Dr John Heydon is the President of the New Zealand branch of the Australian New Zealand Society of Occupational Medicine (ANZSOM).

He is the occupational physician for the University of Otago, New Zealand’s oldest university. He also works as a medical advisor for the Accident Compensation Corporation in New Zealand, and in general practice.

He has previously worked as an occupational physician in the health sector, and the meat industry. He was formerly Senior Lecturer in the Department of Preventive and Social Medicine at the University of Otago, and was also Senior Lecturer in the School of Public Health and Primary Care, at the Fiji School of Medicine. He went to medical school at London University and has worked in England, Papua New Guinea, Nepal and Fiji as well as New Zealand.
